The 2016 Canter, designed to meet customers' demand for best fuel efficiency and interior comfort, is the first update since the 2010 model.
Fuel efficiency directly impacts running costs and operational management. FUSO, therefore, has further refined the model's engine to achieve the highest level of fuel efficiency in Japan. The cab interior has also been upgraded to look more luxurious, with a focus on the color combination of black and silver, promising a comfortable driving experience to professional drivers who spend long hours on the driver's seat.

He adds, "We are also confident that this truck has achieved the highest level of fuel efficiency, which is very critical to operators. We will continue to develop products that can contribute to reducing the overall costs of ownership through fuel-savings technologies. Needless to say, FUSO is always supporting its drivers by offering trucks that they will be proud to own and drive."
1. Highest level of fuel efficiency in Japan
The entire body including the 4P10 engine has been further refined, achieving the highest level of fuel efficiency in the light-duty diesel engine segment in Japan.*1 The Canter model with Idling Stop and Start (ISS) has achieved a 10% improvement over the 2015 heavy-duty vehicle fuel efficiency standards, while other types of the Canter model have improved by 5% over the same standards. This has resulted in the reduction of the motor vehicle weight tax and acquisition tax.*2
*1 : Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism inspection value: Heavy vehicle mode fuel efficiency value.
・ Total vehicle weight of 5 to 8t, maximum load capacity of 2 to 4t or more (excluding hybrid vehicles), examined by MFTBC as of March 2016
*2: Motor vehicle acquisition tax: for vehicles registered until March 31, 2017
・ Motor vehicle weight tax: for vehicles registered until April 30, 2017
2. Stylish and functional interior to increase driving comfort
The cab interior has been upgraded to look and feel more luxurious, with a focus on the color combination of black and silver. The higher quality interior includes side supports and more cushioning, that have been added to the driver's seat, reducing driver fatigue and ensuring a thoroughly comfortable driving experience.
3. Increased storage capacity and comfort
Storage features such as an overhead shelf, floor console, center tray and magazine rack are all now included as standard. These additions have increased the capacity of overall storage space and improved workability inside the cab, making it a more driver-friendly space.
4. Equipped with "Hill Start Assist" for the first time
For the first time since the launch of the Canter model, the standard DUONIC2.0 vehicle type has come with "Hill Start Assist" that prevents a truck from rolling downwards when it is started on a slope. This function maintains braking power for a short time after the foot gets off the brake pedal and before applying the accelerator.
5. Dual-clutch Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) DUONIC 2.0
In September 2015, The DUONIC was upgraded to the DUONIC 2.0. This includes modification of the dual clutch, significantly improving reliability, comfort and operability. In addition, gear shift shock was considerably reduced to ensure smooth driving. The DUONIC2.0 maximizes power transmission efficiency by quickly switching between the two clutches, thereby achieving superior fuel efficiency and passenger-car-like driving and comfort.
6. Upgraded custom exterior
Corner panel coating and fog lamps have been added to Custom specifications.
7. "Eco Blue" as a front grille design
A blue panel has been added to the front grille as part of the standardized design of FUSO trucks to give an ecological impression.
